Roundtable

Diversity as a Resource for Peace

  • /
The world is becoming increasingly interconnected — and simultaneously more vulnerable to conflicts based on differences.

Cultural, ethnic, religious, linguistic, and worldview diversity today requires not neutralization, but recognition as a value and a resource.

The ability of society to accept differences and build consensus, interaction, co-creation, and trust upon them is becoming one of the main conditions for resilience, security, and humanitarian development in the 21st century.

This round table will bring together representatives of different communities, fields, and generations to discuss how diversity becomes a point of support for peace, not a threat to it.

Discussion Questions

  • What kind of diversity are we referring to when speaking of peace? (ethnic, religious, cultural, social, mental, generational)

  • What turns differences into a source of tension — and what helps make them a resource?

  • What consensus-building practices already work in local communities?

  • How to talk to young people about differences — without fear and aggression?

  • What can unite us in a fragmented world?

  • What role do public organizations / civil society institutions play in creating a space for peace?

  • How to strengthen a culture of respect in the educational and media environment?

  • Is it possible to learn to live "different — together" — and where does this path begin?
