Dear Andrey Yurievich,
Dear participants,
Ladies and gentlemen,
On behalf of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, I would like to congratulate everyone on the opening of the first World Public Assembly "New World of Conscious Unity"! We are confident that this event will play a positive role in strengthening the cohesion of the peoples of the Global South.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is developing dynamically. By promoting the philosophy of joint creation, mutually beneficial cooperation, non-alignment against other States and international associations, the Organization makes an important contribution to the formation of a multipolar world order.
The SCO stands for respect for the right of peoples to independently and democratically choose their political and socio-economic development paths, based on the fact that the principles of mutual respect for sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity of States, equality, mutual benefit, non-interference in internal affairs, non-use of force or threat of its use are the basis of sustainable development.
Against the background of the fundamental transformation taking place in the world, the SCO considers relevant initiatives to promote cooperation in building a new type of international relations, advocating the formation of a common vision of such ideas as the creation of a community of common destiny of mankind and the development of dialogue within the "One Earth. One family. One future." initiative." The member States call on the international community to join the SCO Initiative on Global Unity for Just Peace, Harmony and Development, believing that cooperation within the SCO can serve as the basis for the formation of an architecture of equal and indivisible security in Eurasia.
On September 1 this year, the SCO summit was successfully held in Tianjin; it became an important milestone and opened a new page in the history of the Organization. 24 documents were adopted, including the Tianjin Declaration, the SCO Development Strategy until 2035, a Statement on the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and the formation of the United Nations, a Statement on Support for the Multilateral trading system and a number of other important decisions and documents.
The leaders stressed that the Great Victory, which became possible due to the unity of the peoples of all peace-loving countries in opposing Nazism, fascism and militarism, determined the further course of world history and created conditions for the formation of a stable system of international relations that guarantees the peaceful development of mankind. It is necessary to preserve the historical memory of the heroic deed of the peoples and firmly defend the inviolability of the results of the Second World War.
Following the Tianjin Summit, on September 5 this year, the UN General Assembly adopted another resolution on Cooperation between the UN and the SCO, supported by 120 countries. It emphasizes the constructive role of the SCO in ensuring peace and sustainable development, promoting regional cooperation and strengthening good-neighborly relations and mutual trust. This resolution provides convincing evidence of the widespread recognition of the SCO’s authority in the international arena.
Currently, on the eve of its 25th anniversary, the Organization is entering a new stage of development. While remaining committed to its fundamental goals and principles, the SCO intends to strengthen its strategic role in shaping a more representative, democratic, just and multipolar world order under the central coordinating role of the United Nations.
Our Organization will continuously deepen mutual understanding and traditional friendship through the institutions of public diplomacy, friendly public organizations, including the World Peoples Assembly, based on the generally recognized principles of international law, cultural and civilizational diversity, mutually beneficial and equal cooperation.
In conclusion, I would like to wish the Assembly success in achieving its goals for the benefit of sustainable peace and development!
